NLC Rugby Vs. MIT Rugby – 29 October 2011

November 2nd, 2011

Congratulations to the 2011 NERFU D3 Champions!

New London County (1st XV) vs. MIT (1st XV)
29 October 2011

Location: Clark Lane Middle School, Waterford CT

SCORE:
New London County: 40
MIT: 6

Suffice to say it was a little chilly. Both teams wanted to play and provided a close first half. Half time was 8-6 to New London. However, continued pressure and good tactical kicking by New London provided more points in the second half. Final 40-6

NLC Rugby at Springfield – 22 October 2011

October 23rd, 2011

Springfield (1st XV) vs. New London County (1st XV)
22 October 2011

Location: Van Horn Park

SCORE:
Springfield: 7
New London County: 43

This was a good game played with excellent spirit (as evidenced by the two teams joining to play a very good B game vs AIC). Although New London was ahead 19-0 at the half Springfield scored first in teh second half and looked to be a threat for a while before the game got away from them. Final 8 tries to 1.

NLC Rugby at Monadnock – 15 October 2011

October 23rd, 2011

Monadnock (1st XV) vs. New London County (No Visitor Team provided)
15 October 2011

Location: Keene, NH

SCORE:
Monadnock: 10
New London County: 79

A hard fought match all around. Good sportsmanship and respect displayed by both sides throughout the duration of the match.

NLC Rugby Vs. Seacoast Rugby – 01 Oct 2011

October 2nd, 2011

New London County (1st XV) vs. Seacoast (1st XV)
01 October 2011

Location: Clark Lane Middle School, Waterford, CT

SCORE:
New London County: 36
Seacoast: 20

Two evenly matched teams played with lots of heart, some strong running by the backs, but with some lack of finesse in setting up in tackle, ruck and maul situations. Two tries each in the first half saw New London lead 14-12 at the half. Penalties were traded early on in the second half before a scoring rush (New London 25th, 30th, 37th minutes; Seacoast 33rd minute) saw New London pull ahead.

NLC Rugby at Rutland Rugby – 14 Sept 2011

September 25th, 2011

Rutland (1st 15) vs. New London County (1st 15)
24 September 2011

Location: Gawett Field – Rutland, VT

SCORE:
Rutland: 5
New London County: 53

It was a great day for rugby. The Rutland pitch is in excellent condition and the weather cooperated. New London’s conditioning and team play resulted in a strong victory. #10, #6 and #15 had strong matches for New London. Rutland’s veterans were strong as usual. New London had 9 tries with 4 conversions. Rutland had 1 try. Everyone played to the best of their ability and were well disciplined.

NLC Rugby Vs. Harvard Buisness School – 17 Sept 2011

September 20th, 2011

New London County (1st XV) vs. Harvard Business School (1st XV)
17 September 2011
Location: Clark Middle School, Waterford CT

SCORE:
New London County: 77
Harvard Business School: 10

Half of Harvard’s team traveled to New London via New Hampshire (the scenic route); as such, New London’s second side made up a good portion of the “Harvard” side in the 1st half. As a result, it was a one-sided match throughout.

Referee: Jess Porter
